The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) lowered its cash rate by 50 basis points to 3.75 percent starting May 2, an RBA statement said May 1. The RBA said economic conditions have been weaker than expected and inflation has moderated. The statement cited moderated growth in China and slowed growth in the world economy, which is likely to continue growing at a lowered pace throughout 2012.
